[Warded to Leo]

Sometimes this job just makes me tired.
[end ward]

[Warded to Sturgis]

Just finished autopsy on the werewolf. Haven't IDed him yet; it's looking like he was probably Muggle before he was turned, because he doesn't match any wizarding assault or missing persons reports or descriptions on the Werewolf Registry. Death was quick, and his wounds are consistent with the report of self-defense. You shouldn't run into any problems with Internal Affairs on this.
[end ward]

[Warded to Viola and Dante]

Anyone want dinner? I was having a crummy day, so I made pesto. And farfalle.

May. 3rd, 2012

My mother bought me a goose.

A lawn goose.

With twelve different outfits.

I asked her what on earth I would do with a goose and its twelve outfits.

"You could get even more," she says to me. "Don't you have that friend who sews?"

I told her that didn't really answer the question.

"It's whimsical, Alessandra," she informed me. "Your life needs more whimsy."

[Warded to Oberon Doge]

Professional courtesy:
Thought you might want to know, your wife's family was not tortured extensively. The Cruciatus was used at most for a few seconds, but neither of their bodies showed the kind of overkill damage we've come to expect from the Death Eaters.

If you want the full reports, we can get them to you, but I thought you might like to know that. It's not much, but, it's just that I would want to know, if it were my family.
[end ward]

[Leo, Matilda, Mary, Tiberius]
Is it a fair assumption that we're keeping Doge in the loop on his family, even though it's an Auror case?
[end ward]

[Warded to Sturgis]
Can we have a cat?

I would say a dog, but I know realistically, our life just does not have space for a dog in it. Our schedules are insane.

But I keep seeing all these fluffy things in the journals, and then I think "Oh, I want a fluffy thing!" Because one thing I really have always missed about the circus is having animals around all the time.

Maybe two cats. So they can keep each other company while we're at work.

[Warded to Viola]
How is wedding planning coming? Do you need help with anything?

[Warded to DMLE Crime Lab]
Sun came in my window too early this morning. Got up and made apple cake. On my desk, free for the taking.

Unrelated: are any of you trying to go to the forensics convention in New York this year?
[end ward]

[Warded to Sturgis]
Yes, that is Nonna's apple cake you smell. It's on the kitchen island. Half of it came to work with me, if you're looking for more. Consider it your reward for securing dim sum last night.

On a related note, we have to get real blackout shades for the bedroom. I woke up this afternoon and actually wanted to stab a robin for singing.
[end ward]

[Fiona and Miriam]
I have a surprise for each of you.
[end ward]

I had cake for breakfast this morning. It is truly amazing how much better my day has been because of it.

Mar. 25th, 2012

[Warded Private]
Someday, we'll have a real honeymoon. One where we don't have to turn right around and come back home because of an Inferi attack.

I suppose I should count myself lucky. At least we got through the wedding before I had to examine and ID 48 bodies. Getting through all of the Muggles is going to take ages, especially factoring in talking to the Muggle police departments to match records. I hope that grey suit still fits.

TO DO:
- Contact MWEC for consistency.
- Finish x-rays; get help from Ariadne to work machine
- Write script for calling on police
- Contact Records for updated Muggle forms
- Have waiting area ready for family coming in

[end ward]

[Warded to Mr. Moody]
Need security downstairs to handle visiting family. Word's gotten out that some disappeared people are here, and we've already had a lot of visitors. Can't keep order by ourselves.
[end ward]

[Warded to Leo Bagnold]
I'm planning to keep at it until day shift comes on, and then I'm going to have to go home and crash if I'm going to be any use tomorrow. I'm assuming we're not taking any days off this week.
[end ward]

[Warded to Sturgis]
I've forgotten which way is up. Any chance you could bring a sandwich to the morgue for me? I don't see myself getting out for a dinner break tonight.
[end ward]

Mar. 24th, 2012

I just got owl notice this morning that the paperwork has been processed and filed in the Hall of Records: I am officially, legally, Alessandra Josephine Esposito Podmore. Respectful Crime Lab interns may now address me as Hlr. Podmore or Mrs. Podmore.

And yes, I am acting like a fourteen year old and getting entirely too excited about seeing my new name written out. I'm a newlywed, so I'm allowed.

[Warded Private]
He does have a lot of work. He loves you. You love him. You trust him.

No one works that much. Am I just fooling myself? Trying to make myself believe it because I want so much for it to be true?

Something's not adding up. All those "We need to talk"s that get settled with "...about dinner" and "...about the fence." No one says "we need to talk" about a garden fence. I know his schedule as well as I know my own, and--

I could ask Ella. She can see all the schedules. She could find out if he'd clocked in or not.

But he knows that, and he'd have to be the world's biggest idiot to lie about being at work given that his fiance works with him and is friends with the Queen of the Admins. And he's not an idiot.

I just know that something's not right.
[end ward]

[Warded to Morbid Girls + Miriam]
I think maybe I'm going mad.

Someone tell me that stress leading up to a wedding is normal, especially in the middle of a war, and that everyone has a tendency to act a bit odd when under stress.

BACKDATED TO YESTERDAY MORNING BECAUSE KATE IS AN IDIOT WHO CAN'T READ

[Warded to Lydia, Jack, Lacey, and Morag]

Thank you very much for the birthday cupcakes. It was very kind of you to remember me. They are delicious!

[end ward]

[Warded to the Crime Lab]

I have birthday cupcakes. Salted Caramel Cupcakes. They're delicious, and if you don't help me eat them I'll surely make myself sick devouring them all myself. They're here at my office desk (not the morgue desk).

[end ward]

[Warded to Fiona]

Thank you for the birthday gifts! So far I can't bring myself to eat the chocolate casket - it's too neat-looking.

[end ward]

[Warded to Viola and Dante]

You two are wonderful, and I love you. Thank you so much for the presents; they were exactly what I didn't realize I wanted.

[Warded to Morbid Girls and Viola]
I think I've found my dress for "small garden wedding in March" assuming my fiance remembers it.

Yes? No? Keep looking?

Warded to Sturgis )

Feb. 16th, 2012

[Warded to Morbid Girls, Miriam, Espositos, Podmores, Boneses, MacDougals, and people who helped with moving to the new place]

I'm sure all of you know by now that Sturgis and I were called out in a wireless broadcast, and specific reference was made to our wedding.

To avoid trouble, we're moving a few things around and cutting our guest list down a lot. Here are the relevant changes:

- Venue moved from the Bones's back garden to ours
- Date moved from May to Tuesday, March 20. Almost all our guests are DMLE or circus, so a week day makes sense. It's a Week 4 week for DMLE, so we and our teammates will be off already.
- A little more casual. Bridesmaids, pick whatever pretty red dress you want to wear - we're not going to fuss with the special orders and all that, and forget about trying to make people match. Lydia, of course Lacey can still have her flower girl dress. Gentlemen, wear whatever you like on the theme of red and white and black. Guests, make yourselves comfortable. It's an all-day party.

[end ward]

[Warded to Morbid Girls & Miriam]
I hate the circumstances for it, but I honestly feel more like this is my wedding now.

[Warded to Sturgis]

I don't know which of the crime scenes you're at. Just letting you know that I'm with the family, helping get everything settled here. No call for me yet, thank Merlin, because at least that means no bodies. I'll come home once I've got the family calm. Love you, see you soon.

[end ward]

Feb. 12th, 2012

[Warded to Sturgis]

We're not home enough to have a dog, are we?

[end ward]

[Warded to Viola and Dante]

I'm feeling the urge to make lasagna like Grandmother's. Homemade noodles and everything. It's much too much food for only Sturgis and me. Would you two like to come to dinner sometime this week?

[end ward]

Feb. 7th, 2012

[Warded to Morbid Girls Travel Club]

Does anybody want a drink tonight? I got called in early, so I got out early. I ought to be tired, but I'm too wired to sleep. I've got a house full of liquor and nobody to drink it with.

Feb. 3rd, 2012

[Warded to Ariadne]
Are you having a hard time sleeping, or is it just me?
[end ward]

[Warded to Viola and Dante]
Who's minding the wards around the circus now?
[end ward]

[Warded to Matilda]
I'm warding you because I'm bad at talking about things. Families are difficult. So I wanted to check on you.
[end ward]

I made a paper elephant.

He needs a name. )

Indian names are traditional. Perhaps he is a Babar? Or Gajendra? Nero's once had a Gajendra of whom I was very fond.

Brain's grindylow. Ariadne has everything I could collect from it, and Tibs has the nut box. Send your team's intern to bother me again and I'll send him back with a hex for your face.
[end ward]

[Warded to Edgar Bones]
Professional Courtesy/Friendly Courtesy: The brain sent to your sister was from a grindylow, and CDH moved the case from PC to VC. Currently classified as Communicating Threats. Sturgis pulled the case.

[Warded to the Lab]
It's days like today that I miss working opposite shifts from my fiance.

Jan. 16th, 2012

For the sake of my prank-inclined colleagues in the DMLE, I need to clarify a point:

I am not afraid of clowns.

I hate clowns. There is a distinct difference.

People who fear clowns might be inclined to freeze up when they hear calliope music, or run away from anyone who approaches in greasepaint. If I see a clown, on the other hand, I will bodybind him first and ask questions later. I do not think clowns are scary. I think they are filthy, drunken, debauched, irresponsible, and inconsiderate. I want nothing to do with clowns, but they do not scare me.

So, to whomever put that stupid clown mask in my locker: you have wasted your time.

Jan. 14th, 2012

[Warded to the moving crew]
Thank you again, everyone who helped with the move. You're all wonderful, and we appreciate you very much.

Jan. 10th, 2012

Sending the autopsy report upstairs now. Heading home to get some sleep. Page me if you need me.

I hate torture cases

[Warded to Morbid Girls Travel Society (Ariadne, Fiona, and Elladora), plus Viola Esposito]

Further excavation at Sutton Hoo's been held up again. I'd like to deliver a resounding "ugh" for bickering politicians who don't understand history, and another for bickering academics who think their egos are more important than making new discoveries of how ancient people lived and honoured their dead.

But I suppose what I'm actually here to talk about is bridesmaid dresses. We're way behind on picking one, according to The Almighty Calendar, and I don't think any of our schedules are going to get any easier to hash out, so let's just talk it through here and be done.

[Warded to Sturgis]

Moving Countdown: 6 days! Put something in a box.

Almighty Calendar of the Wedding: I'm pinning the girls down on a dress today. You still need to do the same with your groomsmen. Thanks to Edgar, I'm expecting something with feathered hats. Don't disappoint me.

Mother's elephant plans have been neutralised, but I've really got to show you the bridesmaid dress she likes (which I have no doubt she will end up wearing as Mother of the Bride).

Wave your wand to see. It is not to be missed )
